About Despina
A small moon of Neptune orbiting very close to the planet. Discovered in Voyager 2 images in 1989. Lies just outside the Le Verrier ring and may feed it with debris. Irregular in shape and dark in color. Circles Neptune in only eight hours, faster than the planet rotates. Named after a daughter of Poseidon from Greek mythology.
