The second largest object in the asteroid belt. Visited by the Dawn spacecraft in 2011. Has a massive impact crater at its south pole. Bright enough to be visible to the naked eye from Earth. Composed mostly of basaltic rock. Accounts for about 9 percent of the asteroid belts mass.
