About Quaoar
A classical Kuiper Belt object with a surprising ring system announced in 2023. The ring orbits unusually far out, beyond the Roche limit where theory says it should collapse into a moon. Has one known moon, Weywot. Discovered in 2002 by Chad Trujillo and Mike Brown. Surface bears crystalline water ice and methane ices. Named after the creation force of the Tongva people.
