About Orcus
A plutino locked in a 2:3 resonance with Neptune, orbiting opposite Pluto in the cycle, which earns it the nickname anti-Pluto. Its surface holds crystalline water ice and ammonia, hints of past cryovolcanic activity. Has a large moon, Vanth, nearly half its diameter. Discovered in 2004 by Mike Brown and collaborators. Named after the Etruscan god of the underworld.
