About Holmes Comet
A normally faint comet that erupted in October 2007, brightening by a factor of half a million in 42 hours. Became visible to the naked eye despite being far from the Sun. Its expanding dust shell briefly grew larger than the Sun. Discovered by Edwin Holmes in 1892 during a similar outburst. The cause remains poorly understood.
