About Chariklo

The largest known centaur, orbiting between Saturn and Uranus. Made history in 2014 when two narrow rings were discovered around it, the first rings ever found around a minor planet. The rings circle about 390 km above the surface. Discovered in 1997 by James Scotti. Likely a captured trans-Neptunian object on a temporary orbit. Named after a nymph from Greek mythology.
