About Varda
A large cubewano in the classical Kuiper Belt. One of the brightest known trans-Neptunian objects, with a dense icy surface that reflects much of the faint sunlight it receives. Has a large moon, Ilmare, discovered in 2006 and roughly 350 km across. Discovered in 2003 by Jeffrey Larsen and collaborators. Named after a queen of the Valar in the fiction of J R R Tolkien.
