Arrokoth
About Arrokoth
The most distant world ever explored by a spacecraft, visited by New Horizons on January 1, 2019. A contact binary made of two gentle lobes that drifted together billions of years ago. A pristine planetesimal unchanged since the birth of the solar system. Its surface is red, coated with methanol ice and complex organics. Originally cataloged as 2014 MU69 and nicknamed Ultima Thule. The name means sky in the Powhatan language.
