About Thebe
The second largest of the inner regular moons of Jupiter. Discovered in Voyager 1 images in 1979. Orbits close to the planet and is heavily bombarded by high-energy ions. Its surface is dark and reddish with a bright streak named Zethus. Contributes dust to the Jupiter Gossamer Ring, the outermost faint ring. Named after a nymph from Greek mythology.
