About Proxima Centauri
The closest star to the Sun at 4.25 light-years, part of the Alpha Centauri triple system. A tiny red dwarf, slightly larger than Jupiter but about 100 times more massive. Produces violent flares that may strip planetary atmospheres. Hosts the closest known exoplanet, Proxima Centauri b, in its habitable zone. Too faint to see without a telescope despite its proximity.
