About Alpha Centauri B
The smaller companion of the Alpha Centauri binary, an orange K-type star. About 90 percent of the mass of the Sun and half its luminosity. Orbits Alpha Centauri A every 80 years at a distance comparable to Neptune. A planet claim from 2012 was later shown to be a data artifact. Together with Proxima forms a three-star system.
