About Carme
The largest member of the retrograde Carme group. Discovered by Seth Barnes Nicholson in 1938. Orbits Jupiter backwards at nearly 23 million km. The Carme group of roughly 20 moons likely formed from a single shattered D-type asteroid. Has a light reddish surface typical of captured objects. Takes about two Earth years per orbit.
