About Ananke
The namesake of the retrograde Ananke group of moons of Jupiter. Discovered by Seth Barnes Nicholson in 1951 using the 100-inch telescope at Mount Wilson. Orbits backwards at about 21 million km. The Ananke group likely formed from the breakup of a captured asteroid. Its orbit is highly inclined and eccentric. Takes about 630 days to circle the planet.
