Albion
About Albion
The first Kuiper Belt object ever discovered beyond the Pluto system, found in 1992 by David Jewitt and Jane Luu. Originally designated 1992 QB1, its discovery proved the belt existed and opened a new era of solar system science. Confirmed after a five-year systematic sky survey. Named Albion in 2018 after a figure in the mythology of William Blake. Its discovery earned the pair the Shaw Prize in 2012.
